Cisgender: A term for people whose gender identity generally matches the gender assigned for their physical sex. In other words, someone who does not identify as transgender.

Non-binary: People whose gender identity and/or gender expression falls outside the binary categories of man and woman.

Gender Identity: One’s own internal sense of self and their gender, whether that is man, woman, neither, or both.

Sexual Orientation: The enduring physical, romantic, and/or emotional attraction to members of the same and/or other genders.

The Transgender Flag

The most prominent transgender flag design is the “Transgender Pride Flag”, used as a symbol of transgender pride and diversity, and transgender rights. The flag was created by American trans woman Monica Helms in 1999, and was first shown at a pride parade in Phoenix, Arizona in 2000.
